A lean-too is when one side of the carport or covered patio is attached to the home and the other side is lower and sits on posts. Ideally, all awnings should have a pitch of 1/4″ for every 1 foot. This allows enough of a slope to allow rain and snow to slide off easier.
Build the roof for the porch onto the exterior wall of the mobile home. Attach a 2 x 6 ledger board to the studs on the wall using lag bolts. The ledger board should be about 1 1/2 inches below the roof line of the mobile home. Step 6
It shields the deck of the porch and the home from bad weather, and it creates a pleasant shaded area in which to relax. However, it will also come with extra responsibilities. For the back three holes near the mobile home entrance, attach a rim joist to your posts that will face the home. Rim joists run around the outside of your deck providing further support. If attaching a patio roof to a ledger beneath the eaves does not allow for enough headroom, you can set the new patio roof’s rafters on the wall’s top plate.
